19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface from spring of 2023.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and recurring reactions on court had led commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and play positively, supported by an improved serve.

He came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet defended 4 initial opportunities in a close third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
